MacBook Pro delivers solid performance with ultra-fast SSDs and an elegant design from Appple. There are not many design changes in this product line other than using the new Magic keyboard to replace the traditional Butterfly keyboard. With the high-end version equipped with 4 Thunderbolt ports and upgraded configuration to Intel 10th generation Ice Lake processor for outstanding graphics power. In addition, the amount of storage memory is also doubled by Apple in this version. Those are Apple’s changes aimed at improving the user experience. Let’s exploce Review MacBook Pro 2020 below.
Review MacBook Pro 2020
Apple usually does not have as many product design changes in its new product lines as what other laptop manufacturers often do. However, that doesn’t have too much of an impact as most of Apple’s designs are beautiful. Basically, the overall design of the MacBook Pro 13-inch 2020 remains unchanged compared to the 2019 version, there are still two color options: Silver and Gray. But due to the use of the new Magic keyboard a bit thicker, Apple also had to make the chassis about 0.7mm thick.
The weight of the machine remains at 1.4Kg, not an impressive figure compared to the thin and light laptops in the same segment on the market. But with the thick and sturdy unibody metal frame design on the MacBook, it’s still a great choice. When you open the Macbook Pro, the first thing that hits your eye is the giant Force Trackpad, located just below the keyboard. On it, you’ll find the Touch Bar with the power / Touch ID button located on the far right to log into the machine. The keyboard has been replaced with the Magic keyboard. The keys are stable, backlit.
MacBook Pro display
Apple always knows how to create a beautiful display, the 16:10 aspect ratio with 2560×1600 pixels in 13.3 inch size for the ability to display sharp images. The Macbook Pro’s 13.3-inch display is beautiful, but like the rest of the MacBook, this Pro version comes with True Tone, a widget that when turned on that automatically adjusts the color based on ambient light so you have it. You can enjoy optimal color whether you are in a room with natural light, a room with minimal light, or a room with fluorescent lighting. And what’s more special, compared to the MacBook Air, the MacBook Pro’s IPS display has a wider P3 color gamut.
The screen on the MacBook Pro has an impressive brightness that makes it easy to compensate for its lack of vividness. The MacBook models’ displays averaged 485 nits, which beats the 370-nit laptop category average as well as the XPS 13 (417 nits) and the Specter x360 (369 nits). The 13-inch MacBook Pro 2020 is also appreciated with a screen for deep blacks, a much better visual experience than an anti glare screen but not too much reflection thanks to its excellent coating. The only downside in Apple’s new design is that there hasn’t been any change in the bezel design to make it even smaller since the Dell XPS 13 recently removed all the surrounding bezels. Apple still keeps the screen bezels quite thick.
MacBook Pro performance
MacBook Pro is equipped with Intel Core i5-1030NG7 2 GHz processor and Ram16GB capacity. In my testing it performed very well when opening 30 Google Tab at the same time and watching youtube videos, surfing facebook without any delay.
On the Handbrake video transcoding test, the MacBook turned 4K video to 1080p in 12 minutes and 43 seconds. It’s much faster than the 18:52 average. The XPS 13 took second place with a time interval of 15:40, while the Specter completed the task in 21:13. That’s really impressive because both Dell and HP own a Core i7 CPU compared to the Core i5 CPU of the MacBook. This is once of Review MacBook Pro 2020.
MacBook Pro battery life
In terms of battery life, the MacBook Pro 13-inch 2020 surprised me quite by reaching 12 hours on the Wi-Fi web browsing test, slightly higher than the 11.5 hours video playback time. This result is enough to defeat most of the competition. If you use the screen at maximum brightness, the battery life for Wi-Fi browsing is reduced to approximately 7.5 hours. The overall system power consumption can be as high as 65.2W but usually only reaches 57W. Therefore, the 61W power supply is sufficient for use in the case of pressing the machine running continuously at high performance.
The MacBook Pro is one of the great products. After 15 minutes of watching HD video in full screen mode, I took the temperature in several locations, and the touchpad measured it at 79 ° F. The center of the keyboard and the bottom of the system measured 86 ° and 91 ° F, a figure that is not too hot, still within comfortable temperatures. The hottest spot is typically just above the vents at 96 ° F, slightly above the 95 ° F comfort threshold.
